Creating self-extracting archives on the fly is exactly what you can do with ExArchiving. The application comes with powerful compression capabilities and it works quite fast. It lets you decide how the self-extracting archives should behave and the best part is that everything can be done in just a few seconds, with only a few clicks.

The application works on all modern Windows platforms and it is absolutely free. It comes in a small package and it can be installed in under a minute. There are no advanced settings to make during the installation process and you don't have to meet any special requirements.

Dragging and dropping your files over the application's compact user interface and clicking a button is all you have to do. The application will ask you where to store the new archive, after which it will compress the files right away. ExArchiving uses gz compression, which saves you a significant amount of disk space.

Running a generated archive will extract its contained files at a moment's notice, without any further user input. Alternatively, your archive can prompt the user for a destination path and display other prompts, if you make the appropriate tweaks, before creating the archive.

Archives can be tweaked on the application's interface, on its Settings tab. You can set it to show the extraction progress, to allow the user to choose a destination path and to show beginning and end prompts. Also, ExArchiving lets you edit your archive's metadata and use your own custom C# code.

When it comes to compressing data and creating self-extracting archives, ExArchiving is one of the best choices you can make.

Pros

Creating archives is a quick and straightforward process. The application lets you tweak the behavior of your archives. Also, it lets you use custom C# code.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to mention.
